Child and adolescent psychotherapy is available for children and young people from therapists specifically trained to both understand issues facing young people and to use age appropriate forms of intervention. With younger children, for instance, play and art materials are used to enable the therapist to get a better understanding of a child’s inner world.
The therapist seeks to understand the meaning of any difficulties or symptoms or behaviour patterns and helps a child or young person to develop in an emotionally healthy way.
A child and adolescent psychotherapist also works with the parents or other carers, depending upon the age of the child or young person and the type of difficulties. Please contact us for further help.
