Screening & discussion of 'Little Otik'

For 'Cinemas of the Mind'

There will be a screening and discussion of 'Little Otik', a film by Jan Svankmager (2000) on Sunday 24th November 2013 at 12.30 pm at the Duke of York's Picturehouse.

A childless couple decide to raise a voracious tree stump as a substitute for the child they long for but cannot have. When 'Otik' comes to life he develops a lethal appetite. Based on a classic Czech fairy tale transferred to contemporary Prague, this is a dark and dream-like satire on parenting and competition.

There will be a post-screening panel and discussion upstairs at Circus Circus with:

Leslie Ironside: Child and adolescent psychotherapist

Dr Miles Leeson: Associate Lecturer in English at the University of Chichester and Associate of the Sussex Centre for Folklore, Fairy Tales and Fantasy.

Jenny Leeburn: Psychotherapist and Chair and co-ordinator of the PS Arts Forum.
