I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist with over 20 years experience in a variety of settings including the NHS, charity and private sectors.
As an undergraduate I developed an interest in the work of the radical psychiatrist RD Laing and his approach to understanding and treating mental illness, notably in the creation of an experimental therapeutic community in London, Kingsley Hall.
Shortly after graduating I moved to London to take up the role of resident student in an Arbours therapeutic community where I lived for a year before going on to train to become a therapist with the Philadelphia Association, the charity Laing and his colleagues established in 1965.
When I gained my psychotherapy qualification I returned to communities, as a house therapist in one of The Philadelphia Association community houses in North London, where I worked for 10 years.
I currently practice in Brighton & Hove, and Hampstead, London, seeing adults for individual psychotherapy.
I am an approved APPT supervisor.
I also provide supervision to psychoanalytic psychotherapists and psychodynamic counsellors.
